What are the optimal scan conditions?

We recommend keeping all conditions (lighting, time of day, environment, clothes, etc.) the same each time you scan. This will ensure consistency in your results. We've listed out a few more specifics below:

What to Wear

  • Skin-tight shorts, leggings, or underwear
  • Form-fitting bathing suits
  • Form-fitting tank tops, sports bra, or shirtless (for males)
  • Socks or bare feet
  • Long hair tied back behind the head and away from the shoulders

Where and When

  • We recommend scanning once every 1 - 2 weeks
  • Scan at the same time of day for consistency — we recommend first thing in the morning shortly after waking
  • Try to scan while fasted and use the bathroom before scanning
  • Scan against a light background and floor
  • Scan in the same environment, lighting, and position
  • Set your phone on the floor and tilt it up towards you

Additional Notes

  • Make sure your entire body is in frame
  • Try and avoid scanning while menstruating

Troubleshooting Tips

  • For troubleshooting when you’re doing the scan, try to bring your arms forward slightly rather than having them precisely in line with your head. Keep the 90-degree angle, but move them forward toward the camera a bit.
