Numbers Do Not Define You
Whether you are trying to lose weight or gain muscle from a health perspective, or because you are striving for a certain physique, it is important to pursue change healthily, both physically and mentally.
There is nothing wrong with wanting to lose fat or change the appearance of your body. Remember that the numbers on the scale or within this app are just tools to use in your overall wellness journey. They do not define your value or self-worth.
Taking care of yourself and improving your health and fitness is a worthy endeavor. It is important to remember to balance your overall wellness, including your mental, emotional, social, intellectual, spiritual, and occupational wellness, and not let numbers outweigh your relationships and how you engage with the world.
When setting goals, be realistic and have self-compassion because making body composition changes takes time. There will be ups and downs. Strive to achieve those goals with a healthy mindset of empowerment through positive actions instead of focusing on deprivation and negative actions. For example, focusing on eating well and enjoyably moving your body because it makes you feel good and capable, are wonderful ways to make achieving your goals about the process instead of about the number.
Celebrate achieving your body goals by focusing on the impact of the transformation process on your life instead of defining yourself by that goal or achievement.
